Steve's Snappin Dogs
Feel like a great hot dog or just great fast food without blowing a ton of money. Steve's Snappin Dogs is your place. Located on Colfax west of East High School Steve's is built out of an old gas station and has been converted into a hip hot dog hang out spot. Steve's offers great food at very reasonable prices. The menu includes a ton of customized fully loaded hot dogs and other wonderful food.
Story:
The story of Steve Ballas and his wife Linda and how they opened Steve's is told in small pictures around the eating area of the restaurant. Steve liked to cook and after various occupations began catering. Seeing a gap in the Denver market for hotdogs Steve opened up Steve's Snappin Dogs.
You can find the full history of Steve and his life's passion here:
Steve's Snappin Dogs History
The Grub:
The menu includes a lot of great hot dogs but also offers some other great items. I have yet to find anything on the menu that is not awesome.
Let me highlight a few items:
Steves BLT is one my families favorites it is melted toasted BLT that holds its own against the amazing hot dogs.
The Denver Dog is a spicy burrito with a tasty hot dog inside of it. It may sound weird but if you are in the mood for something spicy it definitely hits the spot.
Frozen Hot Chocolate this is really great and tastes very much like the famous Serendipity concoction that tourists flock to in New York, but maybe better? Try it for yourself!
Take a gander at this delicious set of Dogs
Steve's is opening up a location inside DIA!
The location will be inside Concourse B so remember this if you are catching a flight and returning.

Denver Landmarks - Blucifer
DIA Denver International Airport is full of weird of stuff. It may be the weirdest airport any where. Conspiracy theories permeate DIA's every crack and corner. All around you is something that somebody somewhere has a bizarre theory about.
One of the more noticeable attractions at DIA is the giant (32 ft high), blue devil horse that is locally known as Bluecifer!
Bluecifer is a giant blue mustang whose eyes glow with fire. His demonic face and muscles are full of veins bulging out at the seam as he snarls at everyone entering the airport. Conspiracy theorists believe that Blucifer is a representation of one of the 4 horseman of apocalypse, specifically the pale horse known as Death.
That is right, as you leave Denver hoping for a nice peaceful flight you get to drive by a giant, demonic, death Horse. I hope you are not afraid of flying :)
The tale of Blucifer
Blucifer was created by well known artist Luis Jimenez who has constructed statues all across the country. He planned on naming the horse Blue Mustang (This is Blucifer's official name). Almost no one calls him by Blue Mustang, most know the statue as Blucifer. My father insists on calling him BluAblo. Unfortunately, in 2006 while Luis was building Blucifer the head of the great blue mustang fell on him, severing an artery in his leg and killed him. Others finished the great steed and erected in him in his glory outside of DIA in 2008.
People initially hated the demon horse. There was even a group that got a lot of traction to potentially move or hide Blucifer. This did not happen though, Blucifer always prevails. Blucifer and his unique way of scaring and killing people gained him notoriety, which eventually turned into grudged respect.
The Blue Demon horse has now become so popular that he is featured in toys, shirts, and travel mugs. Tourists hunt him out to snap photos of him. There is even a plan to duplicate Blucifer at the newly opened Union Station in Downtown Denver. That is right you can be scared by a demon horse whether you travel by plane, bus, or train.
Like others I have to come to like Blucifer. In order to live in Denver you just have to accept a certain amount of weirdness, and to really thrive you even need to embrace it.
Blucifer even has his own twitter account

Denver Landmarks - Denver Art Museum (DAM)
Denver has never really been known for art. Some of the city's smaller neighbors like Sante Fe have a strong and thriving art culture. This perception has started to change after the Denver Art Musuem's expansion in 2006. The expansion opened the amazing Hamilton Building to the public. The Hamilton wing was designed by famed Architect Daniel E. Libeskind and has been recognized by Institute of Architects.
The building has added some much needed life and sophistication to downtown Denver. The building was meant to capture the essence of the Rocky Mountains and the ever present sunshine of Colorado.
The inside of Hamilton Building is just as impressive as its outside.
More than simply impressive architecture the museum has also provided a place for Denver to show case its growing local, native and international art collection.

What is the Best Burrito in Denver?
Denver has great Burritos. Home to large Burrito chains like Chipoltle, Big City Burrito and Illegal Petes, Denver also has a slew of small, family owned Burrito joints.
Here are a list of Burrito Joints I frequent:
Chipoltle
Illegal Petes
Qdoba
Santiagos
Viva Burrito
Jabernos
I am going to review the burritos from all these places with the aim of crowning one the best burrito in Denver. Before I begin though, I want to elicit suggestions from other Denverites.
Please feel free to give us ideas at the Denver To Do!
